Apple iPhone I think we can accept without question that it will work perfectly as a phone, look stunning and be very ergonomically designed. We can also assume seamless integration with iCal and Address Book etc. So the important discussion is really only about what the ''''X'''' factor is. If Apple are to offer a home media server, it will need a remote control. A remote control for a media server needs a keyboard, joystick/pointer device, a display, a battery, a CPU and some means to communicate. All those bits then need to be wrapped up in a small, sturdy, convenient and attractive housing. A cellphone also has all those components in the right form-factor and it would be a master stroke if Apple were to make a dual function device. It could start off as a very convenient iTunes remote, but with the potential to control any future service. |
