Micronations More and more people are turning to micronationalism as a way to escape the harshness of the 'real' world. Many of these people see micronations (whether they have territory or not) as an example of what macronational countries should be. In the 'real' world, people have to deal with war, famine and corrupt politicians. In the micronational world, most nations don't have any of these problems. Although seen as not much more than a hobby by some people, micronationalism will gain a significant increase in popularity. Some micronations will eventually emerge into the international public eye as people reject the 'old' nations and turn to nations that hold their positive ideals. I predict that within ten years we will see what was once/will still be a micronation join the United Nations and become part of mainstream politics. |
