Artificial star One of the next major steps in stellar physics will involve the creation of an artificial star. This star will be small (enough to fit inside a laboratory) and as a result will also have a short lifetime. Attempts will be made to ensure the experiment is kept under constant pressure, and therefore at a high temperature. The ability to vary pressure/temperature will allow us to model stars of different masses. The result will be that we will see the entire life cycle of a star inside the laboratory. |
