A deep democratic change is taking place in Egypt right now.
The ruling democratic national party lead by the president is trying hard to pass a bill of reform.
The point is to modify the constitutional laws to ensure worthiness while opening the door for presidential elections competition that was not allowed before!
What was going on is that the major party submits its leader for a yes/no vote to the public.
Naturally, people had no choice but a major yes as they do not know what hellish alternative existed.
How about a nation that has no president one would ask?
So, yes, there is a direction towards apparent increase in freedom but the qualifications' set of restrictions on who can and who cannot be a presidential candidate is almost laughable.
It is not a secret that only Muslims can advance to the presidential seat of Egypt as it is one of the conditions in the pre-existing constitutional law. I wonder (sarcastically) why is skin colour not included too.

I think that is typical power hungry government. it seems like people in general want to feel some kind of control or power and it is like a paradox because everyone wants it in all walks of life and those that have it opress it, even sometimes the poorest person still wants to feel like they have power over something and control it, so these governments are simply stopping political evolution, maybe they are not moving forward fast enough, rejecting sound ideas with fear.
