A world government will be in place and in control of business law, environmental law, and weapons of mass destruction, by 2061. Humanity faces global problems, of greatest importance: global warming and pollution, the shorten of clean water and oil, global corporations which play one country off against another, and global criminal groups that seek to better themselves at the expense of just about everyone else. Global problems can only be solved by global solutions: a global government. Obviously many powerful entities exist which will try to prevent this from occurring. I predict that the United States will be one of the last hold-outs to a global government, even though the U.S. is well on its way to becoming the "de facto" world government. What it will take is recognition and awareness of problems as being larger than any country, and recognition of all human's common bond with each other.
I agree to most of this prediction/foreseeing of what is about to come. I just add, that the oil crisis will not last until 2061, we will run completely out of oil way before! ;-)
At the most I predict 20 to 30 more years with oil, the growing use and lesser havings will guarantee this, no matter how expensive they sell the rest of the oil.
Also keep in mind, that the old southamerican cultures predicted an end of all times at exactly 2012! This is short time ahead, and there is no proper answer to this incredible riddle.

we are running out of oil now.
the oil corporations know the tank is almost empty. They've raised the prices on what is left, to maximize profit before they run out...
did you people know that the power companies ..electricity.. buy power from the grid, use machines that output more energy than they use, and sell us the energy? We could build our own machines to do this. Unfortunately, most people are stupid drones who are like sheep. They need to be herded and provided for.

The problem with a global government is that there would be nothing to stop the poorest two or three billion of our planet's population from voting themselves huge transfers of wealth from the remainder of the planet's population. The result would be the rapid end of said global government at best, world war escalating to nuclear war at worst.
A global government has absolutely no contribution to make to solving our planet's problems, because at present no consensus exists as to what those problems ARE.
Also, notice the failure of the United Nations to contribute to the solution of our planet's problems. Notice the rampant corruption of the United Nations at all levels, from rape, looting and murder committed by UN peacekeeping forces in Africa to acceptance of massive bribes from Saddam Hussein by the Secretary-General and his son, and various contractors involved in the Oil for Food program, in exchange for their looking the other way when the Oil for Food money was diverted for purchase of weapons and new Presidential Palaces.
That kind of global government we don't need - government of the world by crooks.

I agree with this prediction.
Of course it will be a very long and progressive change. I think that it will be obvious to more and more people that , just like countries, the world needs a democratic answer to its problems.
I don't understand how it could lead to a
nuclear war if each country can join or leave freely this federal global government.
Of course it will be difficult for the population of developed countries to share with undeveloped countries. It is why it will be done very progressively.
Of course their is corruption in any government, but I see no reason why their would be more in a global government. Is their a 'corruption gene' not equaly distributed in the world ?
Unless a sad 'uniformity', I see only benefits on this idea. Their would be no need of having enormous amounts of weapons and soldier fighting for some oil. Police forces would be sufficient. Their would be no need of having several moneys, several space agency, several stock exchanges ...

I don't agree with this prediction. Eventually a global power might rise, not from the global counsciousness that something has to change, but rather from some sort of Pax Romana filosophy. Besides, a global solution for a global problem might well bring with it a second global problem instead of solving the first one.
You see, even if a problem is global, the ways that problem interacts with certain regions and/or cultures is very specific. Besides, global government could well bring global dictatorship in adition. Who wants that?

I disagree with the prediction. Even though that there will be hardships, there is no way that all humans can unite and feel as one unless there would be an external force, that would threaten our existence.
