In a matter of three or four years, researchers will be able to design a drug that will be specifically designed to shield the fetal brain from the harmful affects of the mother’s indulgence in alcohol. This drug will therefore, stop alcohol from harming brain development by thwarting its attempt to stop neurons from connecting.
