I think it is a part of our foreseeable future that human beings will become so dependent on drugs (both legal and illegal) that they will lose the better part of their own antibodies that prevent many diseases or fight them off anyway. A big indication of this is the already extensive use of medicine for things as trivial as a bout of shyness or even slight depression from some emotional cause. Not long from now there will be a large majority of people, especially in the developed world where people have the resources for such extravagance, will be addicts of these seemingly harmless and helpful drugs.
