FALSE PREDICTION
Accuracy set on 01-Sep-2007 (expiration date)
1012 people have seen this prediction.
I predict that they will decide to fill the city in as a permanent solution to their problem. By bringing it up to sea level they will not need to rely on very vulenerable levees to deal with future huricanes.



As I see it this as the best solution. I do not know of any past precedent for this. It could be a first time.



It should be done.

It is probably too costly to bring in enough dirt to fill in the parts of the city that are below sea level. They are going to build bigger levees instead.

This though is no guarantee that they will hold up in the event of a strong enough huricane. So the best thing they can do is refuse to allow people to repopulate the areas that are of the biggest danger. This is the only reasonable forseable solution I can see. I know though that people will try to hold on to their city even if it is against common sense.

If the whole of the city is not below sea level the necessary filling in would be limited. How much dirt is the question. Its a bigger job than bigger levees but a permanent solution for safe repopulation.
