I'm a great SciFi literature addicted, and during these years I've sort of elected a few writers that, for me, are well above the skyline. They are:

Jules Verne (Yes, still one of my favourites, and going to the centre of the earth wasn't done yet)
Frank Herbert (The Dune series is a masterpiece of all times - not to be mistaken with Brian Herbert, his son, which is continuing the series, but with much less quality)
Arthur C. Clarke (Just Great)
Isaac Asimov (I can't stop reading him)
Philip K. Dick (Remember Minority Report?)
Carl Sagan (I know it looks awkward but I still find Contact to be a great book)

What about you guys? What are those SciFi masterpieces and authors that you recommend beyond all doubts?
