I thought the whole point of the debate was to remove human embryos completely. I also thought that it was illegal to clone humans. It sounds to me like the reporters who are touting this have it wrong.

This article says that they are still using human eggs, placing an adult cell nucleus into it (hence the first stage of cloning a human because the cell immediately begins to divide as a developing embryo) and then they stop the process and remove the stem cells.

Quote:
Currently, embryonic stem cells are either taken from embryos left over from fertility clinics, or generated using a cloning technology called nuclear transfer. This requires taking the nucleus out of an egg cell and replacing it with the nucleus of an adult cell, called a somatic cell, from the person to be treated.

When done successfully, the egg starts dividing as if it had been fertilized by a sperm.

Sounds like they are seriously trying to mislead the public.

Maybe I should clarify. The stories are being headlined as

Quote:
Harvard Researchers Turn Skin Cells Into Stem Cells (Update3)
Aug. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Researchers announced today that they reprogrammed skin cells to function like embryonic stem cells without destroying fertilized human eggs, work that may one day help resolve ethical obstacles in the field.

Science has found other stem cells with embryonic potential besides the embryonic. One would be primitive stem cells from adult blood. I have also heard that umbilical cord stem cells can be used. We have many options to an immoral one.

Yes and that poor "soul" that was waiting in purgatory for the cloned blastula to mature to a human will have to wait for another chance to live in the flesh! Laughing

You lousy atheist.

They give mother the choice to kill her baby and tell her its women's rights! That baby belongs to the father.

You might think so, but the problem is too many men abandon their responsibility. The courts have sided with mothers for years. The problem is, is it women's rights or the unborn child's rights. When a woman become pregnant, the courts have always assumed the mother had the child's and her best interests in mind. Nowadays, the mother probably has selfish motives in mind.

Women's rights are all fine and good, but we also have to realize that men and women are different, and should be treated differently. Mothers have the obligation of carrying the future of mankind for 9 months, and then caring for them for at least a while until they can take care of themselves. Instead women want it all, a family and a wonderful career. These two things are usually somewhat exclusive of each other.

Yes cwes the mother's rights have been promoted over the father's. This is the problem. I believe fathers are more important than mothers. Even having a bad father is better than no father at all.

Mothers have been given the political rights to undermine the fathers. It is no wonder American families are falling apart. Who is going to correct the women? If you can't correct your wife you can't correct the children. You don't have the moral high ground. -- Take it back you men!

Who do you think has promoted mothers over fathers? and for what purpose?
The Russians knew that they could use the techniques that they conquered their own masses with on America.
In their Textbook on Psychopolitics written in the 1920's the Russians said they would conquer America without firing a shot by promoting the disentigration of the family in exactly this way. Russia's plan for America has been achieved through the left wing democrats. Its a sad story but something that we need to deal with. Where is a Godly man like Ronald Reagan? We need another one.

The communists know how to disintegrate a society in order to rule it. Our problems(in America) are by design and the politicians are willing dupes. Evil is by design.

I suppose then that having no mother is just as good as having a bad mother then, because fathers are more important than mothers.

You nincompoop.
