I am quite surprised that there is not even one single purely electronic art industry in which artists draw directly on screen and sell their digital paintings on the web!
The only excuse I can think of is the reliability of the electronic storage media, and the authentication problems as well as the value of aging. Such attributes are not available for digital media but that would be required only for top products. The solution could be in selling the printing rights online. With a special printer or plotter that can paint on canvas with your choice of materials I think that the possibilities are limitless.

I read a roomer that Bill Gates is decorating his home with electronic digital copies that change periodically.
Flat screens on the walls with huge sizes displaying Leonardo’s and Picasso’s as well as Michael Anglo’s top art. What I was thinking is that with the advancement of digital image scanning or even cameras and extremely professional robotic-painters, one could have a Mona Lisa in pastel, water-colour, oil-paint, or even in pencil black.
Apart from that, I await for seeing original art that was never created on other material but screen pixels.
I have seen some mixed techniques but the pure ones are still at very bad quality level.
