I think, though the forum posts predictions but the predictions, especially tech related ones, should be commented on. I want to comment on the ‘RADIO TAG’ prediction. I think the idea to be particularly interesting. I also think that though we are fast moving towards the technologies predicted on this site, but the question remains; do we need these technologies?
Does no one see what kind of couch potatoes we would become if such technologies would wipe out the need to work from our lives?

I think such technologies would be great for us, they will save our time. From Radio Tags I meant the devices that would be identified through their electronic tags. SO you won’t need to go shopping or waste time in long cues to pay for the stuff you got, instead you could pay for it online with the tags identifying the commodity. Who ever that went shopping would not want such devices?

You seem confused Rex, or are you just trying to get a conversation going with yourself? Let me take it up for you.
Just imagine not having to go shopping because you can order all the stuff you need from home. Not needing to walk to your car (someone predicted remotely guided vehicles!) or drive them for that matter, as there would be robots with AI that would do this kind of stuff for us with ease. Already, we don’t move from our seats to change the TV channel.
And to top it all there would be designer sweets to suit our individual tastes. What will be our future? Obesity?

You must be one boring fellow, not to want free time on your hand. I think such tags would make life easier for all of us, what is the use of spending time waiting in long lines to pay for your groceries! Instead, we could spend that time on our personal interests that we want to peruse. Think about the time you could spend on painting or writing or doing whatever you like best. |

I think life would be boring if we had all the luxuries we wanted. Human psyche is that you get bored even form things you love to do once you know that you don’t have to strive for them. Satisfaction comes from effort. Once the effort is not needed, things start go get boring. Ever felt the elation of getting your pay check after working hard for a whole month??? That’s the satisfaction we would be denied if everything got easy for us.
Why do you think well off people take to alcoholism They don’t have to do the standard drudgery to earn a living. Think, mate |

Well, with advanced technologies, a resource-based economy would become much more likely. The jobs wouldn’t really require a human to do them. They are based on repetitive motions that can easily be mimicked by a machine. We would come up with ideas and solutions. These are things people WANT to do and would be glad to do. Most researchers love being researchers, most artists love being artists, some actors love being actors. It is the lack of time and money that prevents people from perusing their desires.
Technology is the road to happiness and satisfaction for the human race. |

If people WANT to do the creative bit and not the physical bit then, why do you think artists and creative people in general are prone to take drugs? My suggestion would be that after a while they stop enjoying their art, instead those who face challenges in their creative career are better off because they don’t loose interest. One other problem I see with your theory of bliss is that if everyone who loves to sing turns to singing and everyone who loves to paint starts to paint then, who is going to appreciate their works
