In the 1930's we began steralizing our soil. This killed beneficial bacteria that man evolved with. These are the HSO's or homeostatic soil organisms. One is acidophilus. These soil bacteria when consumed are highly benefial to the human body. When vegatation grows in HSO rich soils it takes them in and when eaten they enter the intestine where they then colonize. This helps augment the immune system.
In the future we need to grow in unsteralized soil soley. Man evolved with HSO's and that is the reason they should be reintroduced. They should not be left out.
The goals for the future are to treat the soil such that E.Coli cannot survive but that the strains of good bacteria or the HSO's will thrive. It will take some hard science to achieve both of these conditions but it is definitely doable as part of the forseeable future.
