One of the future paths of research on nutrition
will focus on how what we eat and drink effects
our genes.
Genetic research also allows the possibility of
creating foods with a superior nutritional value.
Also it will help identify ways to reduce the risk
of the individual for contracting certain diseases.
The arrival of the first draft of the human genome
brings with it a new chapter in both health and
nutritional understanding.
I believe our environment effects our genes in
an immediate way. With what we eat and drink and breath
being the "biggest" environment we are subjected to.
Also I believe all the conditions our ancestors
had to genetically adapt to evolved genes that
are still in our DNA. They may be dormant.
But I believe they will turn back on by subjecting
the individuals to the same conditions that
originally evolved the genes.
