Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) has long been associated with long haul air travel, but people who spend excessive periods of time at their PCs are also at great risk from blood clots, according to a new report.
A comfortable sitting position, in addition to taking 10 to 15 min breaks can help prevent such a case. Actually, anyone can get a blood clot.
Blood clotting is more common in late mid-age to elderly people. And the most common cases of DVT are after an operation. So, actually anyone can have DVT, smokers are especially prone to this disease.
Blood clots can be extremely dangerous and be fatal, so if you're a smoker, I reckon that you should chew up one baby Aspirin a day. It helps keep the blood nice and thin.
You could suggest that a glass of wine (preferably red for iron content) on a long haul flight lowers the chances of suffering from DVT. Simple logic is that alcohol in the right quantity thins the blood, however it should be noted that it's not a good idea to drink "too much" alcohol on long flights since alot of airtransit firms got quite fed up with drunks on flights.
As for getting DVT infront of the PC, I've often wondered why I haven't got it yet. My theory was that my chair has other horizontal and Vertical pivotal points, so it's suggested that my habits at typing to move my chair has actually stopped my circulation from being too constricted.
[You should note that DVT is only one potential problem from constricted circulation, the other is blood poisoning]
