In the new Millennium, the women’s role being restricted to that of a slave is something to be looked into.
It is considered a practice in the East that women are supposedly inferior to men. Hindu religion calls for satti for a woman when her husband dies (the women dresses herself as a bride and burns herself to death).
However, to term this status of women to be one originated in the East or through Islam is a fallacy.
In fact, it is Islam that gave women recognition enough to give them the right to own property in stark contrast to the early practice of the Christian Church.
