Your Future Science - part1
What used to be pure science-fiction novel’s jargon a couple of years ago is now becoming cutting edge pure science terminology. Terms like time travelling, parallel universes, teleportation, multiple dimensions (more then 3) and even paranormal phenomenon are now constant ingredients of today’s more prominent scientist’s discussions.

Here, at ZapFuture, we will keep you up-to-date with the new discoveries and bring them to you in a clear and understandable language.

In the continuous search for the TOE (theory of everything) - that will, one day, unite gravity and quantum mechanics and explain the movement of all objects, the real big ones, like the planets and above and the real small ones, like the atoms and below - some strange and intriguing aspect has aroused. Somehow, all of those astonishing terms referred above make sense and even more bizarre, they need to be interrelated in order for all to make sense. And that’s booth weird and wonderful…

In the end, it will look like we are only conscientious of a very small portion of the complete “big picture” reality. Excuse me? How can that be?

Read On…

Time Travelling, Multiverse and the Paranormal

Ever since Einstein, we know that “time” is not that old straight and uniform Newtonian constant we took for granted, that continuous that never deviated and always flowed at the same rate and direction.

Einstein invented the time-space notion and changed our vision of the world forever. Like space, time also suffers from the effect of “forces”, like gravity. It has already been demonstrated, with two atomic clocks, one on a plane circulating earth and the other left on the laboratory: they desynchronized.

So, if the pace of time is different according to location, the next obvious debate was time travelling. Needless to say, these discussions always lead to paradoxes problems discussions. The most famous is called the Grandfather Paradox. Let’s say you go back in time and kill your parents before you were born. If you kill your parents before you were born, how could you exist and want to go back to kill your parents?

In fact, my opinion is that there is no Grandfather paradox at all! Some of latest and more extraordinary scientific theories have to be called in order to prove why there is no paradox. Let me try to explain this in a way everyone can understand.

Supposing you go back in time and kill you’re Grandfather, and then you return to the present time. Soon you’ll find that almost everything looks the same, but some things had changed a lot. (The changes, actually, depend on who you are, but let’s imagine for now that you’re the common John Doe). Although your city looks very familiar, you’ll notice that no one recognize you anymore. Your house isn’t there, in its place there is a similar home with people you never saw in your life. So, what then? Well, welcome to the first new scientific theory: The Many Worlds Theory.

You have just discovered, in your flesh and returning from the past, what scientists mean with the Multiverse theory. Actually, in this precise moment, there are zillions of “you” out there, living in zillions of other universes. Every time you make a decision your “one you” goes in one direction and the “other you” takes the other option. Next decision, the same bifurcation happens again, and again, and again. Remember that big decision you took and regret for the rest of your life? If it serves as some comfort, I can guarantee you, there are many “yous” that took the right decision and are living that other option in this precise moment. In fact, they (the “other yous”) keep telling you that you took the wrong decision… That’ way that bad felling doesn’t disappear and might even follow you to the rest of your days. (we’ll get on that later on)

Quantum physics describes a particle by a probabilistic wave function, such that its position is indeterminate until the wave function "collapses" and the particle assumes a definite, though randomly determined, position.

The many worlds theory simply says that the wave function never collapses. The wave just keeps on bifurcating every time it hits an obstacle. So the timeline is constantly bifurcating because the wave is bifurcating all the time. We just happen to be in one thread of this wave. And we have the illusion that we are the only ones. In this other thread, they think they are the only universe. The reality is, nobody's function has collapsed.

The nice part is that these universes are not completely isolated. There is even an experiment you can put in practice at home and see with your own eyes the living proof of their existence. It is called the double-slit experiment , the touchstone of quantum weirdness, and it was first made by Thomas Young, 200 years ago.

Here’s how you can see the shadow of other universes: When you light the lamp, photons particles are fired at the first plate, which has two vertical slits in it. The particles that go through hit the second plate on the far side. Imagine the places that are hit show up black and that the places that are not hit show up white. After the experiment has been running for a while, and many particles have passed through the slits, the plate will be covered in vertical stripes alternating black and white. That is an interference pattern. To make it, particles that passed through one slit have to interfere with particles that passed through the other slit. The pattern simply does not form if you shut one slit. The very odd thing is that the interference pattern forms even if particles come one at a time, with long periods in between! So what is affecting these single particles? Each particle interfering with another particle going through the other slit. What other particle? Another particle in a neighbouring universe!

But there is a much more real and usual way you normally “feel” the existence of these worlds in your everyday life. You and everyone (some better than others) have the ability to communicate among each-other. Those who communicate better are called “mediums”!

That’s right; science will soon be able to explain all (!) the paranormal phenomena’s we’ve heard about and could just not believe to be true.Articles about that are coming from the most prestigious universities.

What do you think are ghosts anyway? (Just kidding) But the reality is that in some worlds you have already died and in other you will never be born. But how and why do we communicate between worlds?

In order to explain how, we have to introduce our next contemporary scientific theory: the Superstrings Theory. The practical aspect this theory introduces is that we live in a more than three dimensional world. Current consensus (M theory) is that the world is eleven-dimensional, ten space dimensions, plus time.

If you have read FlatLand (If not, go read it now, it’s a very small and enjoyable book everyone should read!), you can imagine right now how limited we are in our notion of our understanding of the complete reality and thus you can also imagine, at least ten ways we can communicate among each-other and across worlds and don’t even notice.

Sometimes I hear people say: “it’s not the outside beauty that counts”. Never before was that so true! You have now something new to wonder about: Am I pretty in the 5th and 6th dimension? How will I look like?

Next issue is why we communicate? The answer is simple, like everything else we do, because we need to! We are communicating beasts. However, just like some faculty we don’t have conscience we have – and thus can not force the use of – we only use it involuntarily; like the beating of your heart or the digestion of your food and also like the communication skills of the primitive man.

And we communicate a lot in other dimensions, believe me. When was the last time you were far away from someone you love and felt like if that person was really close? Indeed you are truly “physically” close in one or several of the other dimensions. Keep in mind that the expression “far away” means far away in altitude, longitude and latitude, but doesn’t say a word about the other seven dimensions left!

Right or wrong that the following have at least once happened to you: you look at your mobile phone, remember your dearest one and the next second the phone starts to ring and guess who is calling? How in hell did you predict the incoming call? Easy: you “see” the other person “dialling your numbers on the phone” (something alike), on one of the other dimensions.

But the most obvious example is the mother and son example. It is very common for a mother to feel a huge discomfort the moment something happens to his child, even if that child is on the other side of the world. (Don’t be mislead, “other side of the world” on three dimensions) It is a case where the connection is always big and the bigger the connection, the bigger the bad felling. As the child grows old, the connection goes thinner.

But let’s stay on this example a little more. Sometimes the mother can prevent something bad from happening to the child. (Or at least, feel like if she really did prevent them). Sometimes you can also prevent bad things from happening to yourself. How? Let’s imagine the worst case scenario: You’re about to die!

If you’re about to die, you scream, either of fear or pain! Just as it is obvious for you to understand that is not possible to scream only in two dimensions, it is also easy to understand that when you scream, you scream in all eleven dimensions. (And don’t forget that one is Time…) So, in a very bad scenario, like dead fear, you would “cry” very laugh. And the persons connected to you, including your other “yous” would easily hear you cry. The more connected, the easier they would hear you.

That’s how the mother can understand the crying scream from the child and do something. It is so high that it is felt across all the entire Multiverse, i.e. on all Universes and across all the timelines (goes back and forward in time a little). It is felt stronger in the Universes that are closer to the one you are in. But the dead still happens in, at least, one universe (forcefully!). If you are in a nearby Universe and survive, the relief felling you carry on is the reflex of your real dead on the other Universe. You say: “I almost dye”. And, hopefully, you become a better person!

Do you know that you run from pain situations even without knowing it? Imagine all Universes like contour lines and the dead universe like the line where a bomb detonates. The splinters are the crying screams. If you’re far away you can’t sense them, but if you’re in a close by range, you run like hell from them in order to avoid the splinters.

If you want, you can call this “Thank God, I am ok” relief felling your superior survival instinct or also correct, your Guardian Angel!

But let’s finally get back to John Doe who is just lost in his own town. What happened? Well in this Alternate Time Line, John existence begins when he arrives from the past and it would be a real good Hollywood movie script seeing him trying to explain that he had just arrived from the present/past. Well, John’s line of existence - which as Einstein told us, has to be described always as time and space which are indissoluble one from each other - is Universe1 + Present time then Universe2 + Past time and then Universe3 + Present time. Universe1 doesn’t even exist anymore, because it ended when John moved to the past. It ended for John, not for the rest of the people who kept on living their one lives. John simple can never get back to Universe1.

So, John would end up in a Universe where his existence only began the moment he arrived. While on the Universe he left, his existence had ended, forever, the moment he left. The paradox is over. John keeps jumping from one Timeline to another.

Will we be time-travelling in the future? Where are the visitors from the future?

Mankind will still have to evolve in many incredibly directions before being able to create and manipulate the amount of energy necessary to create gateways to the past.

Maybe time travel will never be feasible or even more plausible; maybe it will just not be appealing anymore. In a far distant future, when every brain (or soul) is connected, nobody really dies, feels pain, or even has a physical existence anymore; where all memories and all realities are available for experimenting at any time, who cares about time travelling?

The common resolution at that time will be: We (the plural should not be used here!) have to leave those poor primitives alone. They would go nuts if we come to visit them.
