I never considered Microsoft Execs to be very good in predicting the future of your desktop. Remember WebTV? Nevertheless, why would they need to predict future killer apps? Their way of doing business is more like "Those dudes have a real cool product?! Buy them! What? They don't want to be bought?! Let's copy the concept, rename it, mass distribute it and smash those ignorant.
Microsoft has recently announced the 10th anniversary of the Microsoft Future Home, which has a handful of new "scenarios" which they say could become commonplace in the next five to 10 years.
I didn't found any revolutionary stuff on the text - for instance, cloth matching will NEVER be done on a display screen - but that's just me. Don't take my word for granted, please check for yourself.
